39 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Thursday, taking the death toll to 1,621.
Besides, 3,946 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 126,606 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Thursday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 17,586 samples were collected and 17,999 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 678,443 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,829 new recoveries, a total of 51,495 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 32 were males and seven females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 21-30, one between 31-40, seven were between 41-50, nine were between 51-60 years, 12 between 61-70, seven between 71-80 years and one was between 91-100 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, ten each hailed from the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions, five each from Rajshahi and Khulna, two from Barishal, three from Mymensingh and four from Rangpur division.
28 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas 11 died at home.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 482,162 as of Thursday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 9,407,078 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 3,866,747 infected patients, 3,808,326 are in mild condition, which is 98 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,421 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.
So far, 4,729,423 people have recovered.
