4 health ministry staff suspended over missing files

Health ministry has suspended four of its lower grade office staff over a recent scandal centring on the disappearance of confidential files from the ministry.  

Confirming the matter at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Health Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary Md Ali Noor also said the punitive action was taken as per the findings of the probe committee report.

“Four employees were suspended in connection with the missing files from the office,” he said.

The suspended staff are: stenographers/computer operators Joseph Sardar and Ayesha Siddiqa, Admin Section office assistants Badal Chandra Goswami and Mintu Mia.

Health ministry officials said that 17 files, mostly related to purchase, went missing from the ministry on October 28.

Medical Education Division Deputy Secretary Nadira Haydar filed a general diary in this regard with the Shahbagh Police Station later on the day.

Health Ministry later formed a three-member committee, led by Additional Secretary Md Shah Alam, to probe the incident.

The probe body submitted the report to the secretary on Thursday, accusing the four employees for the missing of files from office room.
