Rapid Action Battalion detained four suspected operatives of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh in Mymensingh early Saturday.
Identities of the detained persons could not be known immediately.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-14 conducted a drive in the city’s Khagdahar area near the bank of Brahmaputra River, said Md Rokonuzzaman, commanding officer of RAB-14.
The JMB men opened fire on the battalion personnel prompting them to retaliate with fires for self-defence, he said.
After the exchange of fires, the RAB detained four JMB activists.
Besides, a foreign made revolver loaded with bullets and three machetes, among others, were also seized from their possession, the RAB official added.
