Record 503 new patients tested positive and four people died from the novel coronavirus in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 131.
The total number of positive cases in the country increased to 4,689 as of Friday.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing.
She said, a total of 3,686 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Four more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, she said.
So far, a total of 112 patients have recovered from the disease, she added.
Dr Nasima mentioned that all four of the deceased were male and were from Dhaka. They were aged between 51 to 60 years.
"We can only hope to see the growing number of patients come down with your (public) help. Please stay indoors and follow health guidelines," Dr Nasima pleaded.
She urged everyone to comply with the regulations regarding Tarabi prayers, too.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 190,788 on Friday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 2,707,356 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Of those infected, 1,782,425 are currently being treated and 58,678 of them are in serious or critical condition, says worldometer.
So far, 738,257 people have recovered.
