As part of the government’s initiative to relocate Rohingyas to Bhasan Char, around 1,778 Rohingyas have started their journey to the island by four ships in the third batch.
The ships carrying the Rohingyas left the Chattogram Boat Club for Bhasan Char on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday, 17 buses carried Rohingyas from Ukhia to Chattogram.
In the first two phases, 3,446 Rohingyas were relocated to the river island.
Bangladesh, one of the most densely-populated countries in the world, is currently hosting more than 1.1 million Rohingyas. The majority of them came here since August 2017 fleeing persecution in their homeland, Rakhine state of Myanmar.
