4 tea garden workers killed in Moulvibazar landslide

Four tea garden workers have been killed in a landslide in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar.

The incident took place at Lakhaichara tea garden of the upazila around Friday noon.

The deceased are Hiramani Bhumij, 33, Rina Bhumij, 22, Radha Mahali, 45, and Purnima Bhumij.

Chairman of Kalighat Union Parishad Pranesh Goala said the workers went to bring soil from the hill to repair the mud house. At one point, the hill collapsed and they were buried under the ground. “They died on the spot.”

Srimangal Fire Service and Civil Defense leader Abdul Qadir said they have recovered the bodies.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srimangal police station Shamim Ur Rashid Talokdar said, "I am going to the spot. The details will be informed later.”
