43 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Tuesday, taking the death toll to 1,545.
Besides, 3,412 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 119,198 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 17,563 samples were collected and 16,292 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 644,011 samples have been tested in the country.
With 880 new recoveries, a total of 47,635 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 38 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 11-20 years, one between 31-40, six were between 41-50 years, 18 aged between 51-60, ten between 61-70, five between 71-80 and two were between 81-90 years.
Under division-wise categorisation, 16 hailed from the Dhaka division, 15 from Chattogram, six from Rajshahi, two each from Khulna and Mymensingh, and one each from Barishal and Sylhet divisions.
30 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas 12 died at home. The remaining one was already dead when brought to the hospital.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 471,591 as of Tuesday morning, according to the data provided by Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 9,073,386 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 3,775,770 infected patients, 3,717,882 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 57,888 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 4,510,707 people have recovered.
