44 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Monday, taking the death toll to 2,096.
Besides, 3,201 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 165,618 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Monday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 15,201 samples were collected and 14,245 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 860,307 samples have been tested in the country.
With 3,524 new recoveries, a total of 76,149 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
Among the deceased, 33 were males and 11 females.
Under division-wise categorisation, 17 hailed from the Dhaka division, 11 from Chattogram, four from Barishal, three each from Rajshahi and Sylhet, and two each from Khulna, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.
35 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas nine died at home.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 533,684 as of Monday morning, according to the data by Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 11,409,805 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 4,484,514 infected patients, 4,425,974 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,540 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 6,535,351 people have recovered.
