The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday said it is investigating corruption and inquiring illegal wealth of 45 officers and staff of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) who are accused of running a syndicate involved in irregularities.
ACC has launched an investigation into the corruption of DGHS in 2019 and filed cases against 12 individuals.
ACC on September 16, last year served notice to recently arrested driver Malek and 11 other officers and staff of DGHS seeking their wealth information.
ACC secretary Md Dilwar Bhakt talking to the Journalists at the commission headquarter said, "We formed an investigation team to dig out the corruption of a syndicate in DGHS in 2019. Cases were filed against 12 of them. We are now investigating and inquiring 45 officers and staff of DGHS including Malek."
Notices were served against Mahmudduzaman, administrative officer of National Heart Institute and Hospital; Mujibul Haque Munshi, accountant of DGHS in EPI branch; Obaidur Rahman, administrative officer of Gupalganj 250 Bed Hospital; Nazim Uddin, store officer of Shahid Taj Uddin Medical college and Mir Raihan Ali, chief statistics officer of director officer of DGHS in Barisal division.
On the other hand, 6 office staff of DGHS were also served notice seeking wealth information. They are Tofayel Ahmed Bhuiyan, data entry operator of EPI building in NNHP and IMCI unit; Kamrul Hasan, office assistant of Hospital and Clinic branch; Saiful Islam, stenographer cum computer operator of Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College in Gopalganj; Imdadul Haque, accountant of Rangpur Medical College; Anwar Hossen, accountant of Rajshahi Medical College and Abdul Malek, driver of DGHS.
A team of ACC led by deputy director Shamsul Alam is investigating and inquiring the whole affair and director Kazi Shagiqul is working as supervisor.
