5.2 quake jolts Bangladesh

A moderate tremor jolted parts of Bangladesh on Wednesday morning.

The quake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale was felt around 9:15am, Bazlur Rashid of Bangladesh Meteorological Department told The Business Post.

Its epicentre was in Lakshmipur of India's Meghalaya state, he said.

The tremor was felt particularly in northern regions of Bangladesh, the meteorologist added.

According to media reports, the quake was felt in Dhaka along with Rajshahi, Panchagarh, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Kurigram, and Gaibandha districts.

No casualties or infrastructural damages were reported immediately.
