Rapid Action Battalion arrested five suspected operatives of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh during a raid on a hideout in Nilphamari Sadar upazila on Saturday.

Of the arrestees, one was identified as chief of the outfit’s Rangpur military wing, a media release confirmed at noon.

RAB also seized explosives, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), arms and ammunition from the hideout, it added.

Details of the drive will be disclosed at a press briefing at RAB-13 Headquarters in Rangpur at 3:00pm.

In the early hours of Saturday, the battalion members cordoned off the suspected militant den in the Majhapara Putihari area.

Alongside the RAB members, police personnel were also deployed in the area.
