5 killed as bus hits CNG-run autorickshaw in Bogura

Five people were killed when a bus hit a CNG-run autorickshaw on Sujabad second bypass road in Shajahanpur upazila of Bogura Thursday.

The deceased were - autorickshaw driver Hazrat Ali, 35, son of Abdul Gani, a resident of Kadamtali Sakidarpara area of Gabtali upazila, Golam Rabbani Badsha, 60, of Sardarpara area in Marger Bari under Dhunat upazila, Shahana Aktar, 30, and her daughter, 10, residents of Karaihata area of Gabtali upazila.

The identity of another passenger could not be known immediately.

The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus from Gaibandha collided head-on with the autorickshaw around 12:30pm, Shajahanpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Jilani said.

The autorickshaw driver and three of its passengers died on the spot, he said.

The 10-year-old girl, who was injured in the accident, was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, the police official said.

Police seized the bus but its driver and his assistant managed to escape.

The bodies were handed over to their relatives, the OC added.
