At least five people have died due to heatstroke on two overcrowded ferries in Madaripur's Banglabazar.
The ferries were crammed with homegoing passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr festivals, causing the deceased to fall sick.
The incident took place around 11:30 am on Wednesday.
Mohammad Amir Hossain, the officer-in-charge investigation of Shibchar police station, confirmed The Business Post five people died in two ferries.
