Six people were killed as a truck hit a bus on Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail early Friday.
Mirzapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sayedur Rahman confirmed the news to The Business Post.
The OC said a bus of Classic Paribahan was standing on the roadside in Kurni area of Mirzapur upazilla after it broke down due to mechanical issues.
A Dhaka-bound vegetable laden truck around 7am rammed against the bus leaving four persons dead on the spot and several others injured.
Two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries after being taken to hospital, added the OC.
Five of the injured are receiving treatment at Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur.
Police fear the death toll may rise further.
