Six people were killed in separate road crashes in Chattogram and Mymensingh on Monday.
In Mymensingh, 3 people, including a woman and her daughter, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Cherumandal area under Muktagacha upazila.
The deceased were identified as Hasina Khatun, 40, wife of Nazrul Islam, resident of Binodbari Manpur village, her daughter Adiba, 3, and Mrinal Kanti, 65, resident of Ghoga village of the upazila.
“A Tangail-bound truck from Mymensingh collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction at around 1:45pm, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and two others injured,” said officer-in-charge (OC) of Muktagacha Police Station Faruk Ahmed.
The injured persons were taken to Muktagacha Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were sent to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, he said.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and seized the truck, but its driver managed to escape from the scene, the OC added.
In Chattogram, 3 motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a truck on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Lohagara upazila.
The accident occurred at Padua Nayapara area of the upazila around 3:30pm on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Md Absar, 40, son of Jalal Ahmed of Padua area of Lohagara, Jubayer, 25, son of Abdul Quader of Chunti area and Md Jahed, 27, son of Babul of Rangunia thana.
On information, police rushed to the spot and are working to rescue the vehicles with the help of the fire service, said Khan Mohammad Erfan, OC of Dohazari Highway Police.
