Sixty-one people died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till 8:00 am on Tuesday taking its tally to 11,705, according to a release issued by the Director General of Health Services.
Besides, 1,914 people tested positive for the virus during the same period bringing the caseloads to 765,596.
The tally of recoveries rose to 695,032 with 3,870 people got cured from the disease in the 24 hours pushing the rate of recoveries to 90.78 per cent.
The rate of positivity now stands at 13.82 per cent while death rate 1.53 per cent, said the directorate.
Bangladesh is currently under a lockdown that began from April 14 and later extended. The nationwide lockdown is now expected to be extended by another phase, till May 16, to tackle a second wave of the virus pandemic.
