The fire at the BM Container Depot at Sitakunda in Chattogram has not been completely doused even after more than 62 hours passed since it broke out on Saturday night.

“The Chattogram depot fire is under control, but some containers are still burning inside. A Bangladesh Army team has been working to help douse the Chattogram depot fire,” Mohammad Anisur Rahman, deputy director of fire service, said.

At least 41 people have died after a huge fire broke out at a shipping container depot in Chattogram on Saturday night.

The fire at the depot in Sitakunda area has left hundreds of others injured and authorities fear the death count may climb.

A total of 22 bodies of the victims of the Chattogram depot fire incident have been handed over to their families and relatives since Monday noon.

A team of experts has begun collecting DNA samples to identify the other bodies, which will be handed over after identification.
