7 more patients died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Bangladesh, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said today.
This takes the toll to 91. At the same time, 312 new cases were reported across the country.
With this, the total number of infected has reached 2,456.
The minister said nine more patients recovered from coronavirus infection during the same period. The total number of recovery is 75 so far.
The minister said countrywide lockdown is not working as expected as people in several areas are not following the government's orders for social distancing.
Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said among the newly-infected patients, 40 percent are from Dhaka, 31 percent are from Narayanganj and the rest are from different parts of the country.
