Seven died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Friday, taking the death toll to 206. Besides, 709 more people tested positive, which makes 13,134 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Friday.
She said five of the deceased were male and two were female. One of them was over the age of 90, two were between 71-80 years, two between 61-70 years and the other two were between 51-60 years.
With 191 new recoveries, a total of 2,101 patients recovered from coronavirus till date.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 5,707 samples were collected and 5,941 were tested in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection reached 3,845,607 all over the world as of Friday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University data.
A total of 269,567 deaths were recorded globally due to Covid-19 since the disease, caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, 98 percent are in mild condition.
Of the currently infected 2,302,573 patients, 2,253,615 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. 48,958 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.
So far, 1,282,930 people have recovered.
