7 Regent Hospital employees land in jail

A Dhaka court has rejected bail petitions of seven staff members of Regent Group, and sent them to jail in connection with a case filed over allegations of issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.

Metropolitan Magistrate Debdash Chandra Adhikary passed the order on Tuesday.

Earlier on today, Md Alamgir Gazi, an inspector of Uttara Paschim Thana and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court.

On 08 Jul 2020, A Dhaka court placed seven Regent Hospital staff members on five-day remand each. Another accused Kamrul Islam (17) was sent to a juvenile correction centre after the hearing.

On 7 July, RAB filed a case with Uttara Paschim Thana accusing Regent Hospital authorities of issuing fake coronavirus certificates. The lawsuit was filed against 17 people including Md Shahid, the chairman of Regent Group.
