Seven hundred BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists, along with students who were arrested in cases filed over clashes with Chhatra League, Jubo League and police during the quota reform movement in Chittagong, have been released on bail.
They were released from the Chattogram central jail on Tuesday night. Confirming the matter, Senior Jail Superintendent Muhammad Manjur Hossain said that 700 prisoners have been released after confirming bail from the court.
Back on August 2, the court granted bail to 16 HSC examinees arrested in cases of clashes and vandalism during protests organised by Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon.
Among them, Chattogram Chief Metropolitan Court granted bail to 3 people from the city and 13 from the district.
