A baghair (devil catfish or Gangetic goonch) weighing over 72 kg was sold for Tk 80,000 at Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat on Thursday.

Fisherman Mohsin Ali caught the fish while fishing in the Teesta River at Dakshin Dauabari village of the upazila on that morning.

Later, it was sold to some locals for Tk 80,000, said Afsar Ali, a resident of the area.

Meanwhile, people crowded to see the giant fish at the bazaar.

"I went fishing on Thursday morning when the water level in Teesta increased. At that time, a huge 72 kg baghair fish was trapped in my net. Later, I took the fish to the market, and I sold it for Tk 80,000," said Mohsin.
