Turag thana police have shown 81 Bangladeshi migrant workers arrested who were supposed to return to their homes on Tuesday upon completion of institutional quarantine at Diabari in the capital’s Uttara.
They have been produced before the court following the arrests, confirmed Turag police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Asmaul Husna.
The 81 workers were sent to quarantine in Diabari after they returned from Vietnam on a special flight on August 18. They faced quizzing in phases upon their arrival in Dhaka.
Vietnam authorities decided to launch an investigation against human traffickers after they allegedly demonstrated before the Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi with a demand to be brought back home amid the pandemic in mid-July.
