The numbers of Covid-19 daily deaths and infections dropped in Bangladesh as 88 people died from the virus in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Friday, which is lower than that of the previous three days since April 20.
Bangladesh registered 98 Covid-19 deaths on Thursday, 95 on Wednesday and 91 on Tuesday.
As of Friday 8:00am, the death toll from the virus rose to 10,869, according to a press release issued by Directorate General of Health Services.
Besides, 3, 629 people tested positive in the 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 7,39,703.
According to the press release, the death rate now stands at 1.47 per cent.
The present positivity rate is 14 per cent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.95 per cent.
A total of 25,896 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours ending at 8:00 am on Friday, said the DGHS.
To curb the transmission of the virus, the government imposed a ‘strict’ lockdown for seven days from April 14. The restrictions were later extended for another week until April 28.
