22 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Sunday, taking the death toll to 3,154.
Besides, 886 more people tested positive for the virus, which is the lowest in the last 85 days as the number of tests slumped further on Eid Day (Saturday), making 240,786 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Sunday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 3,213 samples were collected and 3,684 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,189,295 samples have been tested in the country.
With 586 new recoveries, a total of 136,839 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 17 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 31-40 years, one between 41-50, eight between 51-60, nine between 61-70 and two were between 71-80 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, eight hailed from the Dhaka division, three each from Chattogram and Khulna, four from Rajshahi, two from Barishal and one each from Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.
20 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and two died at home.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 684,075 as of Sunday morning, according to the data provided by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 17,793,532 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 5,997,538 infected patients, 5,931,829 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 65,709 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 10,502,127 people have recovered.
