A triumph for family planning: 8th BNYCFP ends on a high note

Bangladesh 8th National Youth Family Planning Conference concluded on Wednesday. SERAC-Bangladesh organised this two-day-long conference at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB).

SERAC-Bangladesh along with the partners including USAID, Bangladesh Youth Health Action Network (BYHAN), Coalition of Youth Organizations in Bangladesh (CYOB), Jhpiego, Ipas Bangladesh, Marie Stopes Bangladesh, Pathfinder International, Knowledge SUCCESS, 1 point 8, Share-Net Bangladesh, Johns Hopkins University, Mott MacDonald and UNFPA Bangladesh successfully arranged the conference.

Since 2016, SERAC-Bangladesh has been organizing this national youth Family Planning Conference every year with the presence of the Directorate General of Family Planning, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and various national and international SRH organizations. National and international level policymakers, public health experts, and over 500 adolescents and young adults, highlighted the importance of the key theme - Act, Change, Sustain.

On the second day of the conference, the closing plenary ACTions to Catalyze the CHANGE and SUSTAIN FP/SRH serviceshosted by SERAC-Bangladesh and moderated by SM Shaikat, Executive Director, SERAC-Bangladesh. The session was chaired by Maqsura Noor, NDC, Directorate General (Additional Secretary), Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery. Prof Dr Md Habibe Millat, MP and Kristine Blokhus, UNFPA representative in Bangladesh joined as the guest of honor. Dr Abu Jamil Faisel was the keynote speaker and Alexandra Johns, Executive Director, Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Basuri Islam, Volunteer Leader (Matuail), SERAC-Bangladesh joined as the speaker.

Maqsura Noor, NDC committed to improve the capacity building of nursing and midwifery professionals more. Kristin Blokhus mentioned the importance of involving youths in the field of family planning. BNYCFP Secretary General SM Shaikat announced the closing of the 8th Bangladesh National Youth Conference on Family Planning with a hope to bring more excitement in the upcoming year.

SERAC-Bangladesh is a youth focused development organization established in 1991. It has direct projects in 28 districts in all 8 divisions of Bangladesh and a wide youth network in all 64 districts.
