Abducted mother, daughter found dead in Cox's Bazar

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered the bodies of a woman and her child, who were allegedly kidnapped from the Padua area in Cumilla three days ago, from Cox's Bazaar town Monday night.

The victims are Arifa Akhter, 25, wife of Tanveer, and her three-year-old daughter Tanisha Islam Anha, who hailed from Ashoktola area in Sadar upazila of the district.

On information, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in the Shoikotpara area around 9:30 pm in the town last night and recovered their bodies, Md Kalam Chowdhury, assistant director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, said on Tuesday.

Arifa's family members had lodged a General Diary (GD) with Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Thana on the day they went missing.

"Nobody was arrested till now. An investigation is underway," he said, adding that the bodies were handed over to their family members.
