ACC files charge sheet against Firoz Rashid

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday submitted charge sheet against Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid Chowdhury on charge of grabbing public property.

ACC Deputy Director Jahagir Alam submitted the charge sheet at court on Monday.

Zulfiker Ali, investigating officer of ACC filed a case against Kazi Firoz Rashid in 2016, for his alleged involvement of grabbing one bigha (0.4 acre) land at Dhanmondi area of the capital.

Kazi Firoz Rashid Chowdhury is a lawmaker from Dhaka-6 constituency.

The FIR report said, "A government house on a one-bigha land in Dhanmondi residential area was allocated to the then diplomat Mohammad Ali on November 3, 1951. Later, in 1970, authorities handed over the land to inheritors of Mohammad Ali — his second wife, son and daughter. Mutation of the land was made in their names. On May 22, 1970, government gave approval for the land transfer but Firoz Rashid grabbed the land (Road No 2, House No-65) on the basis of fake documents in August 1979".

In August 2015, the ACC initiated a probe against Kazi Firoz Rashid for allegedly grabbing land in the capital.

The national anti-graft body interrogated him on August 13, 2015.
