ACC frames charge against ex-civil surgeon of Satkhira, 8 others

Anti-Corruption Commission today has framed charges against former civil surgeon of Satkhira district Dr. Tawhidur Rahman for his alleged involvement in embezzling Tk 16 crore in the purchase of hospital logistics.

Investigation officer of ACC Md. Jahangir Alam submitted the charge sheet at Satkhira court, said ACC director public relations Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya.

The other accused persons are accountants of Civil Surgeon office Md. Anwar Hossen, AKM Fazlul Haque, owner of Bengal Scientific and Surgical company Md. Jahir Uddin Sarker, owners of M/S Mercantile Trade International Md. Abdus Sattar, Md. Ahasan Habib, manager Kazi Abu Bakkar Siddique, assistant engineer AHM Abdul Kuddus and owner of Universal Trade Corporation Md. Ashadur Rahman.

According to the charge sheet, the accused persons pocketed Tk 16.71 crore in the name of supplying healthcare gadgets to Satkhira Sadar Hospital and other offices by abusing power and mutual understanding of the accused person which is punishable crime under ACC law.

Earlier, deputy director now assistant director of ACC Md. Zamal Uddin filed a case on July 9, 2019.

The accused person is currently on bail from the Supreme Court.
