ACC grills 3 CMSD officials over PPE, mask scams

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is interrogating three officials of Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) as part of an investigation into their alleged involvement in purchasing substandard masks and PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment).

The three officials are -- CMSD assistant director (admin) Dr MdShahjahan, store in-charge Dr Sabbir Ahmed and store officer Kabir Ahmed.

They are being interrogated by a team led by ACC Director Mir Mohammad Joynul Abedin Shibly since 10 am on Sunday (July 19).

ACC Public Relations Officer (PRO) Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter to The Business Post.

Earlier on July 13, ACC asked the three to appear before its head office on July 19.

The national anti-graft watchdog summoned a total of six officials of CMSD as part of the investigation into the alleged corruption while buying healthcare equipment to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
