Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday questioned chairman of JKG Health Care Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury at the jail gate in connection with allegations of coronavirus testing forgery.
ACC Deputy Director Selina Akter Moni grilled her at the Central Prison in Keraniganj.
Director (Public Relations) Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya confirmed the development to The Business Post.
"The ACC interrogated Ariful Haque Chowdhury, husband of Sabrina Chowdhury over money embezzlement and issuing fake coronavirus test certificates but he didn't provide any detailed information on this. The ACC believes that for better inquiry, it is necessary to grill Sabrina and so, our team interrogated her at the prison gate today," Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya said.
A Dhaka court on August 20 gave permission to grill Dr Sabrina Chowdhury and five others at the prison gate over their involvement in money laundering and providing fake Covid-19 test reports to people.
The other accused are her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury, ASM Syed Chowdhury, Humayun Kabir alias Himo, his wife Tanzina Pathowary and the licence holder of this organisation Zebunnesa Rima.
All the accused persons are currently in prison after being arrested in another case.
Dhaka metropolitan police arrested Dr Sabrina, her husband Ariful Haque and four others over the allegations that they provided fake coronavirus certificates to countless people and earned at least 8 crore taka and amassed wealth beyond legal income source.
