ACC imposes travel ban on Kazi Papul, three family members 

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday imposed a travel ban on Mohammad Shahid Islam alias Kazi Papul, an independent Member of Parliament from Lakshmipur-2 and three members of his family.

The travel ban was also imposed on his wife Selina Islam who is also MP of reserved seat for women and his daughter Wafa Islam and his sister-in-law Jesmin.

ACC sent a letter signed by ACC Deputy Director Md. Salauddin to immigration police asking them to take necessary action in this regard so that the four individuals mentioned in the letter can’t flee the country.

ACC letter said, “There are allegations of money laundering and possessing wealth beyond legal income source against those persons which is primarily proved in our investigation. ACC has the information that the alleged persons are trying to flee country and to stop them from leaving the country, we requested immigration police to take necessary action in this regard”.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on June 9 sent letters to Kazi Papul, his wife, daughter and sister-in-law asking them to submit their personal documents including national identity cards, passports, TIN certificates, and copies of income tax returns as a part of investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kuwait on June 7 arrested Kazi Papul on charges of human trafficking and money laundering from his residence in the Mushrif area in Kuwait.
