Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday sent arrest warrant to different police stations against Rubina Khanam, wife of suspended office assistant of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Abzal Hossen.

Rubina is on the run after ACC served her notice on the charge of acquiring illegal wealth worth 34 crore taka and laundering as much as 285 crore taka.

ACC Secretary Md Dilwar Bhakt made the revelation today while talking with journalists at ACC headquarter.

The secretary said, "During grilling, Abzal revealed more information about his hidden property and we are on the process of freezing them. We sent arrest warrant to several police stations against his wife Rubina Khanam as she is on the run.”

The national anti-graft body interrogated Abzal for three consecutive days which will continue for next few days as court on September 2 granted 14 days remand to grill him.

Abzal Hossen surrendered himself to Dhaka Metropolitan Jude court through his lawyer on August 26 and sought bail. Court denied his prayer and sent him to jail.

ACC on June 27 last year, filed two cases against the couple on the allegations of acquiring illegal wealth and money laundering.

According to FIR (First Information Report), the couple laundered and transferred 284.51 crore taka in the name of supplying medical accessories and hardware to different medical colleges and hospitals.

The allegations brought by ACC against Rubina Khanam said, she acquired illegal wealth worth 31.51 crore taka which was kept secret in their wealth information and Abzal Hossen possessed 4.79 crore taka which ACC believed earned by illegal means of ways.

ACC also filed a case on April 26, last year, against 10 people including this couple on the allegations of embezzling 37 crore taka by procuring unnecessary things for Cox's Bazar Medical College.

Rubina Khanam was a stenographer in a branch of DGHS and later she opened a business organization named Rahman Trade International which was involved with different business dealing with DGHS.

There are allegations that this couple was doing monopoly business with DGHS under the blessing of a section of unscrupulous officials of DGHS.
