ACC quizzes wife of Abdul Malek 

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today interrogated Nargis Begum, the wife of driver Abdul Malek over the allegations of acquiring illegal wealth.

Before arrested by RAB, Abdul Malek was employed at the Directorate of Health Services (DGHS) as driver who is accused of possessing huge wealth which is incongruous to his legal income source.

A team of ACC led by Mir Joinul Abedin Shibly interrogated her at the ACC headquarter.

Assistant Director of ACC Syed Nazrul Islam confirmed the grilling of her to the Business Post.

Islam said, "ACC is probing into acquiring of illegal wealth by Abdul Malek and as part of the ongoing investigation, Nasrin Begum was grilled".

ACC found evidence of acquiring illegal wealth against the couple.

ACC said, "she is the owner of two seven storey residential buildings despite being dependent. She also owned a number of land plots in Hatirpul and at different parts of Dhaka city. Huge amount of cash were deposited under her name in different banks"

Abdul Malek was arrested on September 20, over the allegations of different crimes including extortion, running illegal business of counterfeit currencies. 

He was arrested with Tk1.5 lac counterfeit currencies and an illegal firearm.
