ACC seeks wealth info of 'Golden Monir, wife

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday served notices to Monir Hossen alias Golden Monir and his wife Rowshan Akter to submit their wealth information within 21 days.

The notices, signed by ACC director Akhter Hossen Azad, were issued on Thursday.

The notices said, “The persons related with the notices were asked to submit their wealth information including moveable and immovable assets that are registered under their names and persons of their dependents within 21 days. They have been also asked to detail about the sources of those assets and to mention any liabilities if they have.”

The letters also cautioned about the consequence of failure to submit wealth information or giving false information.

Monir Hossen started his career as a salesman of a cloth store and later stated to smuggle gold under the guise luggage business.

After a primary investigation, ACC found at least 26 land plots in different areas of the capital under his name.

ACC believes, in a very conservative account, Monir Hossen is the owner of at least 610 crore taka worth property.

Apart from it, he has investments in different businesses including gold, housing and automobile.

Rowshan Akter, wife of Monir Hossen, who is a dependent also raked up vast amount of property including land plots in different areas of the capital, including areas like Gulshan, Banani and along with luxury cars.

Monir was arrested in a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Raid from his Merul Badda residence on November 20 with a huge amount of cash, arms, liquor and gold.
