The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday said that it will dig out the wealth of additional secretary Kazi Jebunnesa Begum, who came to media spotlights for alleged harassment of Prothom Alo senior journalist Rozina Islam.

ACC Commissioner (investigation) Jahurul Haque made the revelation while talking to the journalists at the ACC headquarters in the capital.

He said, “ACC will investigate the wealth of Kazi Jebunnesa Begum, additional secretary to the Health Services Division if the allegation of possessing illegal wealth against her has merit.”

“We (ACC) have noticed social media posts of the illegal wealth of Kazi Jebunnesa Begum which is not enough to launch an investigation against her. If credible evidence is found, ACC will probe” he added.

Some allegations are surfacing on social media platforms against Kazi Jebunnesa Begum of having three apartments in Canada, one in East London and four flats in Dhaka.

She is also allegedly having nearly Tk100 crore cash deposited in different bank accounts.

Kazi Jebunnesa Begum allegedly harassed Rozina Islam while performing her professional duty on Monday.

Rozina was kept confined for several hours before she was handed over to police on the allegations of stealing state secret.

A case was filed against Rozina in charge of breaching the Official Secrets Act 1923.

A Dhaka court on Thursday fixed Sunday for order on her bail petition.
