The Anti-Corruption Commission has decided to file a case against former Teknaf police station officer-in-charge Pradip Kumar Das and his wife Chumki.
ACC in its primary investigation has found that the couple had illegally earned a wealth of worth 3 crore taka which the anti-graft body labelled beyond their legal income source.
His list of illegal wealth includes a six-storey building in Cox's Bazar, flat and ownership in two hotels and four decimal land.
On condition of anonymity an ACC official told the Business Post, ACC has launched an investigation against Pradip's on allegation that he started amassing illegal wealth in 2018. The source said Pradip declared property worth 70 lakh taka which is far less than the amount his wife owned at the time.
ACC in its investigation has found that he owns property worth 3 crore taka at least.
Director of public relations of the commission Pradip Kumar Bhattachariya said: "Our investigation against Pradip Kumar Das and his wife Chumki is ongoing since 2018 and once it is complete we will reveal the findings in public."
Pradip Kumar Das hit the media headlines after the killing of retired major of Army Sinha Mohammed Rashed on July 30.
