Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to make inquiries into the corruption allegations against the Regent group chairman and owner of Regent Hospital Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim.
The decision to put Shahed Karim under ACC scanner is made in a commission meeting held on today.
ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya confirmed the development to The Business Post saying that ACC will probe into the allegations against Shahed Karim as he is a man of dubious character with the financial scam.
ACC already formed a three-member inquiry team led by Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddique. Other two members of this team are assistant directors Md Neyamul Hasan Gazi and Sheikh Md Gulam Mawla.
Detailing the allegations against Shahed Karim, Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya said, “There are allegations that he made quick buck through Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) and credit card fraudulence. He also deceived common people, evaded income tax, used fake ID card for embezzling money from the bank."
ACC collecting information about Shahed Karim from various facilities including individual, mass media, virtual and other relevant sources.
Earlier ACC on July 9, decided to investigate into the irregularities and corruption of Regent Hospital.
RAB on July 7 filed a case against Regent Hospital on the allegations of issuing fake certificates on coronavirus test without any sort of investigations.
In this case, Shahed Karim was made accused along with 16 other persons.
