Three members of a family were killed in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw at Jatrabari in Dhaka Friday morning.
Besides, two more people, including a minor girl, were also injured in the accident that took place in the Matuail area around 7:15am.
The victims, who were travelling by the autorickshaw, came to Dhaka from Barishal on a launch in the morning and were heading towards Matuail later.
The deceased are Abdur Rahman, 65, Sharmin, 38, and Riazul Islam, 45, while the injured are Rafiq, 50, the autorickshaw driver, and Shakira, 5.
Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector Bishwajit Sarkar said police rescued the victims and sent them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty physician declared the trio dead.
Details of the victims’ identities could not be known immediately, he added.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Inspector Bachchu Miah said the bodies were kept at the morgue for autopsy.
