The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed its firm support, including financial, for the implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's election manifesto 'Amar Gram Amar Shohor’ programme.

The newly appointed ADB Country Director for Bangladesh Edimon Ginting and the outgoing Country Director Manmohan Parkash expressed their organisation’s support during a meeting with Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Tazul Islam on Monday.

The government is working relentlessly to implement the 'Amar Gram Amar Shohor’ programme with an aim to bring the facilities of urban life to villages and ADB would provide technical assistance, including funding, for this government project, the ADB officials said.

LGRD Minister said, “ADB is a trusted development partner of Bangladesh contributing to the country’s socio-economic development and infrastructure”.

He hoped that the global lender’s cooperation would continue in the future as well.

Helaluddin Ahmed, Senior Secretary, Local Government Department and senior officials of the Ministry were present during the meeting.
