An additional secretary of food ministry died with Covid-19 like symptoms on Saturday.
Sree Gautam Aich Sarker, got admitted to the capital’s Kurmitola General Hospital with fever and breathing problems where he died in the morning, confirmed Vishnu Kumar Sarker, secretary of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Dr Sushmita Aich, the daughter of the deceased alleged that several hospitals in the capital refused to provide treatment to her father.
She said with regret that even after being a doctor she could not help the situation. She said that her father did not test positive for Covid-19 and yet he had to suffer to death.
Gautam was the former secretary of the trust.
Vishnu said Gautam had been suffering from various ailments for long.
Samples were collected and sent for testing to ascertain if Gautam was coronavirus positive, Vishnu added.
