Advance sale of long-haul bus tickets for homebound people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr started in the capital on Friday morning. These tickets are available both at inter-district bus counters and online.
Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association and Managing Director of Shyamoli NR Travels Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh said, “A monitoring team is working on behalf of the bus owners to make the process of buying tickets easier and smooth.
“Apart from this, availability of tickets in black market will also be prevented through intelligence surveillance by the administration. No bus ticket will be available in the black market.”
Regarding the issue of taking extra fare for Eid journey, he said, “The fare will be charged as per the bus fare list of BRTA. All bus owners have been given the instruction not to overcharge customers.”
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, is expected to be celebrated on 10 or 11 April, depending on the moon sighting.
