The advance sale of train tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha celebrations will begin on June 2.
The commuters will have to purchase their tickets online and through mobile apps, Director General of Bangladesh Railway Sardar Shahadat Ali said at a press briefing at the Rail Bhaban on Tuesday, while discussing the railways’ preparations on the occasion of Eid.
Advance train tickets for June 12 will be available on June 2, for June 13 on June 3, for June 14 on June 4. Meanwhile, tickets for June 15 and 16 will be available on June 5 and June 6 respectively.
Ticket sales will start at 8am for western region and at 2pm for the eastern region of the country, he said.
Railway Minister Zillul Hakim said, “After Eid, the return ticket for June 20 will be available on June 10, for June 21 on June 11, for June 22 on June 12, for June 23 on June 13, and for June 24, the tickets will be available on June 14.
“For the transportation of sacrificial animals in the western region, a ‘Cattle Express’ will be added in service from June 12 to 14, and for the eastern region, on June 12 and 13 June.”
Deputy Secretary Toufique Imam and Additional Director General of Bangladesh Railway Md Arifuzzaman were present at the brief.
