Advance train ticket sales for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr began on Friday.
Tickets for April 17 are being offered on Friday, however, tickets for the western region sold out within minutes of going on sale. None of the trains running towards Jessore, Khulna, and North Bengal have available tickets.
As per the previous announcement, this year all tickets for the Eid journey and Eid return journey are being sold online.
Shah Alam Shishir, the commercial officer of the Railway’s Dhaka division, said, "All the tickets for the western region have already been sold out. Some tickets for the eastern region are still on sale. Some 25,778 tickets will be sold daily.
“As tickets are sold online, there is no rush of passengers at the railway station. Sohoz.com, which is in charge of selling railway tickets, is capable of selling 8,000 tickets per minute. One million people can access their site at once.”
