International Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil, held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque in Chattogram, became lively with spontaneous participation of thousands of religious Ahl al-Bayt lovers. The mosque square thronged with crowds of people attending the mahfil on Tuesday night.

Shah Sufi Allama Syed Afeefuddin Abdul Qadir Mansoor Al-Jilani Al-Baghdadi, a descendant of Shaykh Syed Abdul Qader Jilani (RA) was the foreign discussant on the 9th day of the Mahfil.

He said, “The fiend Yazid was the founder of the first monarchy in the history of the world in the name of Islam. He legitimised all the wrongdoings by sitting on the throne in an undemocratic manner. Yazid established a hideous tyranny by legalising alcohol, gambling, usury, adultery.

“Fiend Yazid will be cursed for ages for imposing a terrible tyranny in the name of Islam. And the name of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) will be forever enshrined in the memory of truth-seeking people as a winner.”

He continued, “The International Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil, held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque, brings honor and dignity to Chattogram and Bangladesh. I am proud to have come to such a faith-inspiring ceremony.

“I am impressed and overwhelmed by the love of the prophet muhammad (PBUH) among the people of Bangladesh.”

Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman – chief patron and chairman of Karbala Mahfil Board of Directors, Ekushey Padak winner, and also the chairman of PHP Family – presided over the 9th day of the 10-day long 39th International Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil.

He said, “Be humble, honest and generous. We have to be as vast as the sea, as generous as the sky, as strong and steadfast as the mountains, to be patient in the face of danger and to show gratitude and patience to Allah in all circumstances. Do not disrespect people.

“No one should be harmed. It is also part of the worship to keep people happy with nice words. Stay away from greed. Be content with what you have. Change your destiny by working hard.”

Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman then expressed his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone involved and cooperated in various ways in organising the International Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil.

Shaykh Afeefuddin Al-Jailani — the 33rd descendant of Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihi Wasallam) — will also attend the 10th and last day of the Mahfil on Wednesday.
