Agriculture ministry attains 98pc ADP target

The Ministry of Agriculture has achieved a 98 per cent implementation target of Annual Development Programme in the fiscal year 2020-21.

With this, the ministry has bettered the national average by 18 per cent.

Ministry of Agriculture claimed this achievement after a meeting at the secretariat regarding the implementation of ADP on Thursday.

The meeting was presided over by Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque.

The minister expressed his satisfaction towards the officials for the accomplishment despite the ongoing pandemic, cyclone, flood and other natural disasters.

“Combined effort made it possible” Razzaque said.

Tk 2,312 crore was allocated for a total of 85 projects of the agriculture ministry. Of the amount, the ministry so far expended Tk 2,255 crore for the projects, which is 98 per cent of the total allocation.

“Agriculture sector is witnessing an adverse effect of climate change. Population is increasing, agricultural land is decreasing due to industrialization, water level is falling down. On top of that, the pandemic has been an added misery. In this situation, all have to be careful to obtain highest output from limited resources to keep production up,” said the minister.

“All the projects have to be completed in time” he added.

Senior Secretary Mesbahul Islam moderated the programme while other high officials of the ministry were present in the meeting.
