AL Dhanmondi, Dhaka district offices torched

Awami League’s Dhaka district office have been set on fire by protesters around 4pm on Monday. Eye witnesses say the fire quickly spread to the nearby gas cylinder shop.

Besides, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's office at 3/A of Dhanmondi in the capital was also torched, while protesters shouted various slogans.

Awami League President and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country in the face of strong public protests. According to Indian media, Sheikh Hasina has gone to Agartala, India.

As the army chief said in a speech to the nation that Sheikh Hasina has resigned, millions of people took to the streets in victory processions.
