Ruling Awami League brought out a colourful procession in the capital marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the country's independence.
A huge number of activists and leaders of the party and its associate bodies gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday afternoon to take part in the procession.
Holding the national flag, posters and placards, they were chanting different slogans praising the party chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The procession started from Suhrawardy Udyan and parade Shahbagh, Elephant Road, Science Laboratory, Mirpur Road before ending at Dhanmondi-32.
Awami League Presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, however, said they are sorry for the problem of traffic jam common people might experience due to the party event.
