The ruling Awami League (AL) leaders and activists took positions on different city streets including the party's central office at Bangabandhu avenue from Sunday early morning.
Hundreds of AL men took positions in front of the party’s central office as they were seen chanting slogans. The gathering was increasing fast as the day was progressing, reports BSS.
The AL men now are marching different roads near the party office with slogans.
They said the quota movement is not controlled by the protesters. So, the ruling party men are ready to resist them, they added.
The AL leaders and activists have also crowded at city’s different spots including Azimpur, Palashi, Dhanmondi, Mirpur and Khamarbari area in line with the party’s planned announcement earlier.
On the other hand, the news on cancelling the street gathering of the party men on the social media was a rumor, AL Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua said, adding the programme has not been cancelled.
“The programme continues ...the rumors were spread to confuse the party men,” he said.
