All kinds of public transports, including inter-district and long-distance buses, launches and trains, will resume operation with half the capacities from Monday.

The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification on Sunday extending an ongoing countrywide lockdown until May 30 midnight and allowing resumption of operation of public transports.

Shariful Alam, public relation officer of the Ministry of Railway, told The Business Post that 28 pairs of intercity trains would resume operation with half their capacities from Monday following health guidelines.

Tickets for the trains would be available online, he added.

Only intra-district public transportation was allowed to run earlier due to 'strict' lockdown restrictions.

Besides, hotels and food outlets will also cater to half their seating arrangements, according to the new instructions.

The ongoing lockdown is scheduled to expire on May 23.
